The Jessie Hall Hemispherectomy Scholarship

Announcing the Jessie Hall Hemispherectomy Scholarship

http://www.hemispherectomy.info/

http://www.hallzoo.com/JHHS.htm

Many of you know Kristi, Jessie’s Mom and my loving wife. And as you know, she is a caring, thoughtful, and compassionate person, who rarely thinks of herself and makes daily personal sacrifices for her family, coworkers, friends, and strangers. She is a beautiful person both inside and out.

Although, she cries and prays daily for Jessie, she has found time to come up with a plan to bring honor to Jessie and to help other kids who are faced with the challenge of Hemispherectomy Surgery, and who overcome the challenge to do great things.

Kristi is pleased to announce The Jessie Hall Hemispherectomy Scholarship. The JHH Scholarship fund is a one-of-a-kind fund set up exclusively to help children who have undergone a Hemispherectomy brain surgery, and who have gone on to do amazing things under the circumstances.

The JHH Scholarship will be awarded each summer to a child who has been accepted to an accredited university and will begin college in the fall. Initially, the JHH Scholarship fund will be funded by Kristi Hall with a commitment of $1000 per year for 20 years, or $20,000. It is her dream that eventually, through private and corporate donations, that this fund become endowed and enough money is raised to send all hemispherectomy kids, who are capable, to the college or camp of their choice.

The first winner of the Jessie Hall Scholarship will be announced in July of 2008 and we pray that Jessie will be there to present the award.

If your organization, or another organization that you know of who would be interested in supporting such a cause, please contact Kristi at Kristi@Hallzoo.com or 817-312-2265.

Hello Halls, Hope you all are recovering after your long last week. Just wanted you to know that we, the Hefner family, will always be praying for you. Also, Sophie is in class with Jessie and Jessie ALWAYS talks about our horse. She is stabled here in Aledo and we go just about everyday to ride. Is there a day after school that she can maybe go with us and she can pet and or ride? Sophie would love it. We are the family with the twins, Lilly is in Mrs. Trammell's class, they have real blonde hair. I cannot imagine all the people you guys meet in a day. Congrats on the scholarship it is so wonderful. Please let me know about the horse thing, I would LOVE to do this. Kristi Hefner

Dear Hall Family,

I linked over here from another blog, and oh my, I've spent quite some time reading about your precious daughter, your wonderful family, town and all that has been going on!

I want you to know I will be praying for your daughter's upcoming surgery.

My son was dx with a brain tumor at 16. While we were waiting for his surgery date, (we had time, thank you Jesus!). I watched some special on TV one night and it was the story of Dr. Ben Carson's first hemispherectomy!

Immediately I thought, if anyone is going in my child's brain, I want it to be this man!

We met with him only days later! We are in Louisiana and flew to Baltimore.

When it came time for my son's surgery,(Dr, Carson recommended we wait and watch for a period of time), he was scheduled for a vacation. Dr.Carson had just discovered he had cancer!

Needless to say I was very disappointed. However Dr. Weingart did a great job!

You are truly in the MOST GIFTED hands ever. I love knowing he is not only the BEST, but he loves the Lord and prays before and during surgery.

I will keep up with you now.

So nice to meet you!

Susan

Jessie and family,

I had the honor of meeting and getting to know your grandparents, Gary and Nancy, just last week. I spent all week at their house as they not only opened up their house to me, my friend, and countless others but they also opened up their hearts to us in more ways than one that we will never forget. One way was to share your story with us! Our prayers are with you, your family, and the doctors on his very important day!!May the love of God and all of us continue to be showered upon you for a very successful procedure and recovery!

To the Halls: Please be reassured that you have the best doctor in the world, as well as a super team to help your precious little girl through this ordeal. Our little girl has had numerous surgeries performed by Dr. Carson and Dr. Weingart and if it is any constellation to you she is doing remarkably well now at 14. She had first surgery when she was 16 months old, another when she was 25months and another this past January 2008 and today, she is just an amazing and happy teenager. We pray everyday that she remains happy and healthy. Please know that our family will always remember your family for we know what you have been through and how this feels.

Hello Halls, I saw your story on WJZ in Baltimore and have been deeply moved by it. Jessie's story has brought tears to my eyes, especially when I heard that her surgery was successful! I have a daughter near her age and she's been in and out of hospitals since she was a baby for Sickle Cell, so I have kind of a inkling as to how you guys as parents feel....My family's prayers will continuously be with you as Jessie recovers safely to go back to a normal life!

Dear Jessie and family, I have been following your story and am so overwhelmed at the strength and courage that you a 6 year old child who otherwise would be out playing with friends or watching tv, you are undergoing probably the most difficult time any child could ever have to endure. But after watching you going off for your surgery with that beautiful smile and up beat attitude I know you will be so brave and strong during this recovery period. I can say from experience that there is no one else I would rather do such a surgery like that other then Dr. Ben Carson. I was lucky enough to meet and have him do surgery on my granddaughter at 4 months old and he is an inspiration and a legend in his field. So God has blessed you with the finest man to take your future into his hands and do what he does best! To see you and him together before surgery I could see that a bond had already been established and Dr. Carson will watch over you and fall in love with you as many of us have. You are an inspiration for many others who have debilitating illnessses and your beautiful little face and your braveness will inspire alot more people then you will ever know. Mr. and Mrs. Hall you have a very special and exceptional little girl and as a parent I know that that had to come from your love and caring for her. And God will reward you for that in the healing process for Jessie and the years ahead you will have with your wonderful daughter. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you always as Jessie is now a part of all of us and as is your family. I will look forward to the day of her wedding being posted at WJZ TV! Congrats and good luck with your future Jessie,as you are an angel sent from above. Rose-Maryland
