At Johns Hopkins Emergency Room

http://www.prayforjessie.org

I've been up all night, and I apologize for the probably typos and grammatical mistakes, but the ol' mind is a bit foggy from lack of sleep due to the ER and late flights for relatives.

I wanted to catch everyone up. Yesterday about 3:00 PM, we noticed a little seepage from Jessie's wound and ask the nurse to look at it. So at about 8:00, the doctor over at Kennedy Krieger ask us to go over to the ER at Hopkins so they could look at it. Hopkins may have a great reputation, but I guess that an ER is an ER regardless of the state or reputation of the institution.

So, it's about 7:00 AM and we are nearing the 12 hour mark in the ER. That just about ties our Cook Children's ER record. Oh well...

So Jessie had blood drawn and an LP (Lumbar Puncture / Spinal Tap) to check for a serious infection. In the interim, they've started her on an antibiotic. They've admitted her back into Hopkins, and now they are looking for a room to put her in. Some of the cultures take 48 hours, so we are looking at a minimum of 48 hours in hopkins and subsequently a 48 hour delay in rehab.

Also, because that part of her incision is not healing like it should, there is a cosmetic issue at that spot, which is unfortunately right in the front-top of her head. Hopefully, they will address that as well, or I'm sure we will have to look at cosmetic surgery of some sort. The rest of the incision looks incredible.

I'm off to bed so that I can relieve Kristi in a bit. The neurosurgery team should be by sometime this morning.

Many of you will be in church today, so please pray that the infection is superficial and that Jessie gets back to rehab at KKI quickly.

God Bless You,

Cris

I had been concerned when there was no news on the Fourth, but was happy that you were with family and probably just having a good time. Thanks so much for the news. I know it must be hard to keep everyone updated when you are so tired and anxious.
God knows all about Jessie and what she needs. He will provide for all of you. Our prayers are certainly with each of you.
You are all right where God wants you. Stay in touch with Him. God bless you. We love you all.

I am saying a few EXTRA prayers for you guys today. This is just a minor setback and Jessie will be back on track in no time. Just continue with your awesome faith and strength provided by the Lord. I will pray for the medical staff that comes in contact with sweet Jessie today. May they have gentleness beyond belief, knowledge that surpasses any we can fathom, expertise that is unimaginable, and faith in our Savior that is unsurpassed. Thank you for the update. I, too, was concerned when there was no update yesterday but also realize that you guys are having some much needed family time. Anyway, please keep us updated as you can.

Lots of love,

Hang in there. Jessie has come a long way. I still think her left side smile is starting to work. I, too, was looking for an update yesterday but figured you were having family time. I will continue to pray for all of you. Thank you for taking the time to update. God bless all of you.

Remember the bald spot on Abby's head? Same thing I bet. Don't worry. Abby's stitches split a little bit and they gave her antibiotics, and stitched it back up again (NOT fun). We figure when she is a little older she can decide if she wants the plastic surgery or not - right now we just part it a little differently. Hang in there.

I am sorry to hear that she is back in the hospital. I will continue to pray for. It has been awhile I haven't written to you. I am glad she is doing good otherwise, but this does not sound good. But I know the doctors and the nurses will work hard with her. Keep up the spirit with Jessie. God Bless, T

We were so sorry to hear about Jessie's latest update and hope that it is the minimum 48 sidebar from therapy and nothing more. Tell Jessie that her old roomate from KKI said to get back to therapy soon. Madison has told Jessie's story to countless people upon our return to Richmond. We will include some extra prayers for Jessie and your family!
