Infection Update

7/6/2008

The past 22 hours have been incredibly disappointing. Disappointing because Jessie was on such a roll and doing so well in therapies. Now she will be somewhere to 1 to 2 days behind. We are still in Johns Hopkins Hospital, back to our old room on the 4th floor, awaiting results from blood and CSF cultures. Initial blood and CSF tests were normal. Our Infectious Disease doc came back and swabbed the site - we should have some news about what type of infection is going on by tomorrow morning. Cris came to give me a break after lunch.

There is some good news and a funny story to help brighten our little pity party!

* Jessie is doing great - no fever, no pain, just bored and ready to go back to Kennedy Krieger. We need to tape her saying this so we can play it back to her in a few days when she's preparing to go to therapies!
* We had a very nice visit from Lisa and Rebecca Yim this afternoon. Rebecca is 14 and had a right hemi when she was 7. She is a beautiful young lady and the visit from Rebecca and her mom really made our day.
* Early on in our ER adventure last night, Jessie announced out of the blue that God likes to help us - don't you know? Cris and I both replied that, "Yes! You are right!" and then Cris asked Jessie how she wants God to help her - both of us totally expecting a plea to get out of the ER or a request to go home. Jessie replied, "I want Him to clean my room!" I always knew Jessie was a very forward-thinking girl!

Cris is staying with Jessie tonight and plan on calling it a night early. I think I will do the same. We are looking forward to tomorrow and the blessing of a new day with new possibilities. I know after a good night's sleep, Cris will provide you with fun stories about our wonderful, busy, 4th of July weekend.

Love to you all and thank you for the special prayers for Jessie!

Kristi

Hi y'all!

I hope you will get some good rest tonight. I'll be praying for you to have peaceful slumber and for God to renew your strength.

God's ways our not our ways...I encourage you to continue to seek Him in ALL things. The word says when we are weak is when we must rely on him to make us strong. So just continue to trust in Him and wait patiently.

(I know, it's easier said than done, sometimes, huh?)

Maybe He has someone over in the hospital he wants you to have a divine appointment with.

Whatever the reason, I will not look at this situation as a setback, rather, God just had a detour plan for some reason we have yet to know.

;-)

Lots of Love and Prayers are being sent your way!

I am glad she is keeping her spirits up! I hope you get good news and she returns to rehab soon. The girls and I ran into your boys at Walmart this afternoon. They were with Grandma. They seemed happy to be home! :)

Hi Cris & Kristi,

Rule out, rule out rule out. That is what they have to do to make sure there is no infection. I believe Jessie is ok and will soon be back in rehab. In fact I am claiming no infection and also continuing to pray for all of you. God is awesome and full of "coincidences". Keep the faith ahead of the fear and keep believing. Love, Jerra

Hey guys! Iam praying for good news today! Jessie's story of God helping her clean her room is confirming in that He does make them His angels when need be. God knew especially you two needed to hear those words at that moment! My prayer is that He will show you more rays of sunshine in the next few hours! Loves from one wonder woman to another!

Bless your hearts! From my own family's multiple experiences with rehab, it is a rollercoaster of emotions. We are praying for Jessie's continued progress and for strength for you and Cris. My five year-old daughter cannot wait to have a playdate with Jessie when she is home and better. (We live in Dallas and I've told her that we hope to meet y'all someday!)

I know it can be frustrating to take a few steps back. But its all in God's plan, there is always a reason for the things he does even though they are not always easy to see or understand! I know Jessie will be back on track very quickly. We are praying for a quick recovery from this little set back. So happy to hear that the boys were able to spend time with you in Baltimore!
You all are in our prayers daily!

Dear Jessie

I missed playing with you in the playroom at KKI this weekend. I am sad that you don't feel good and I hope you feel better soon so we can play again. My mom and I say prayers for you before bedtime. Get better Jessie! I hope I see you very soon.

Your Friend,
Isabella at KKI (and mom)
